1973
HAMH sponsored the opening of the Hampshire Day House, a day treatment center for mentally ill adults released from Northampton State Hospital.
1975
HAMH opened one of the first halfway houses in western Massachusetts for individuals ready to leave Northampton State Hospital, followed by additional residential programs, and subsequently, an outpatient psychotherapy and
medication clinic.
1976
Franklin/Hampshire Community Mental Health Center (F/HCMHC) was founded with funding through the federal Community Mental Health Act. Services included crisis intervention, day treatment, residential care, and
community education.
1983
Hampshire Day House added outpatient and other mental health services and consequently changed its name to Northampton Area Mental Health Services (NAMHS).
1983
HAMH expanded its array of services to include sheltering and housing services for homeless people and changed its name to Valley Programs
1991
Valley Programs and NAMHS merged. The merged agency kept the name of Valley Programs.
1995
Valley Programs and F/HCMHC merged. Their new name, ServiceNet, reflected the organization’s reconfiguration as a new regional integrated system of care for people with mental illness. Some programs from Amherst Resource Center also joined ServiceNet at this time.
2003
ServiceNet took over responsibility for Baystate Franklin Medical Center’s outpatient mental health services.
2009
ServiceNet took over Moving Forward, a batterers’ intervention program, formerly part of Men’s Resource Center of Amherst.
2009
ServiceNet and Meridian Associates merged.
2009
ServiceNet took over responsibility for Baystate Franklin Medical Center’s substance abuse programs.
