What is EAP?
At the Pioneer Valley EAP we try our best to keep all of our members informed
about who we are, and what we do. We make an effort to visit sites, send out
newsletters, and attend staff meetings, so that out members can meet us and ask
questions. Still, we serve so many individual worksites over such a large geographic
area that we can never quite manage to meet everyone. For that reason we like
to send out this newsletter each year. It describes our program and answers some
of our most frequently asked questions. On the other side there is a copy of
our brochure, with some additional information.
If you have more questions about your EAP benefit please call us. We are happy
to answer your questions. Have a wonderful fall season, and be well!

WHO MAY USE THE EAP?
The EAP is available to all regular employees and their families. When we say
“family”, we generally mean the members of your household. Our definition of
family does not discriminate between traditional and non-traditional families,
we include domestic partners, members of blended families, and relatives who live
with you.
WHERE ARE YOUR OFFICES?
Our main office is in Northampton and we have additional offices to see clients
in Amherst, Deerfield, Greenfield, and Chicopee.
IS IT REALLY CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes! Your organization does not learn the identity of anyone who has used the
EAP. EAP records do not become part of your personnel file. It is only with your written permission that information about you can be released by the EAP.
IS IT REALLY FREE?
Yes. There is no cost to you, or “co-pay” for EAP services. All EAP costs are
paid by your organization or company. When we refer you to other services, we
work with you to locate providers who are covered by your insurance or are otherwise
affordable.
WHAT KINDS OF PROBLEMS DO PEOPLE TALK ABOUT AT THE EAP?
Workplace issues and emotional issues are two of the most common problems. We
also provide help with substance abuse, relationship issues, parenting concerns,
stress, bereavement, life transitions, interpersonal conflict, and financial problems
to name a few. Basically, if you have a problem that is troubling you sufficiently
to interfere with other aspects of your life, it is probably appropriate for EAP.
We have both male and female clinicians as well as clinicians with various areas
of specific clinical expertise.
HOW DO I CONTACT THE EAP?
